Updates in our life
This past month has gone by quickly and has been very full. I am currently taking an online course that is required for all Sped teachers with my specific credential (thanks a lot Schwartzenegger!). I'm taking advantage of my time on leave to get it done. Poor Marc has been battling sickness for the last 2 weeks and had to run to the Urgent Care last weekend for antibiotics. Long work days and little rest are most likely the culprits.
Currently, Chiara's favorite past time is sucking on her hands and gagging herself in the process. She is very vocal lately and it seems her only volume is loud. She has become extra clingy recently and wants me to hold her and if she is not being held I have to entertain her. As a result my back aches and I don't feel like talking much when Marc gets home :)She is super attentive now when I read to her. She listens and stares at the pictures and words which has been very fun for me. Needless to say I have to get more books! Pictures will be uploaded as soon as we can.

We celebrated our one year anniversary on the 12th, and if you read our first blog you know we've had quite a year! We are truly blessed, not because of what we have but because I can testify that God does keep good on His promises!

2 months and counting
Hi everyone! Sorry it has been so long. January was a busy month. I turned 30, we went on a church retreat, Marc re-routed the sprinklers, my sister came to visit etc etc. Chiara is now 9 weeks old and growing lots. She has started to coo, laugh, and smile. Here are some photos from the past month.

Reflux and more
Chiara has come down with reflux and some constipation. Her tummy was swollen and hard and we were super worried. I sent out a mass text asking for prayer for her and I believe the Lord answered in the form of providing me valuable information. We were told that a suppository would help her poo and we also gave her gripe water for her upset tummy.
She has pooped a number of times and she has been burping better.
So thank you for all of your prayers! More pics to come soon!

Introducing Chiara Grace Navarro!!!
---This is Marc finally writing a blog because my wife is feeding Chiara.
Yesterday, November 30th, 2010 was the day Nicolette and I have been waiting for. Chiara came into this world at 6:37pm yesterday weighing 6.15lbs and 18 inches long.
On Monday November 29th, Nicolette woke up at 4:00am telling me that she was having contractions. I couldn't go back to sleep so I laid in bed thinking about Nicci and Chiara. I went to work and kept updated on the status of the two. Her contractions were getting closer and closer together. We had an appointment with the doctor that afternoon and the doctor told us that Nicci was 90% effaced and 2cm dilated. The doctor said that she will probably see us at the hospital soon.
As we left the doctors office, we watched some DVD's. The first one was "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", then for some comedy we watched, "My Cousin Vinny". Go figure since Nicci is Italian. Out of all the movies she gets mad at me because of the language, she happens to laugh at Joe Pesci cursing saying "F this, F that you mother@%$!". After that I went to bed because I was tired from waking up at 4:00am.
As I slept like a baby, Nicci wakes me up at 12:30am (Tues. Nov. 30th) to tell me her contractions have been 5 minutes apart for the last 2 hrs, since 10pm. I got ready for bed and we headed to the hospital. They observed Nicci and said she was 5cm dilated and 90% effaced. The hospital admitted her at 1:00am Tuesday morning.
Being at the hospital was a grueling process that left us with little to no sleep. Below is Nicci swaying her hips at Tuesday 3:50am to get through a contraction.

As we waited and contracted, Nicci was routinely check, but she didn't dilate no more than 5cm, but was 100% effaced. After being check the contractions were getting worse, but no dilation. Nicci accepted some pain medication but it didn't work. The next step for that was a medicine called Petocin, which was supposed to help her dilate more, but that didn't work. Finally, the pain became unbearable for her to take with the contractions being back-to-back. The only solution for Nicci was for her to accept Epidural, which was something she didn't want to get. Before all of this she was getting mad telling me to stop talking, and becoming agitated with the pain. Words of encouragement were not helping while she would state "I don't know if I could go through this again". I had to remind her that God didn't have these pain relievers in the old days, but created us somehow to with stand the pain to bring these children into the world." After the tiresome pain of contracting, Nicci and I talked about our only option left for relief of an Epidural. She took the Epidural and once it came into effect her exact words to me were, "I am quite optimistic about this now!" This is a picture of her resting with the Epidural.

Once the Epidural took in effect, Nicci had the opportunity to rest. I took a one hour nap at the hospital, then drove home to eat a sandwich and brush my teeth. It was a good time to do this because when I came back, Nicci was 9cm dilated. We thought that Nicci would have had Chiara by noon, due to the close contractions. As we waited it was already 5:00pm, and Nicci's Epidural was starting to wear off and the pain was returning. Doctors and nurses were busy as always, and we kept calling for an update, and finally the Charge nurse looked at Nicci and said "You're ready to have this baby. Let me call the doctor to tell him. " The nurse caught the doctor at a good time because he was getting ready to go to the O.R. The nurses had her push for a bit and they said, "we can see a head, with a lot of black hair." Nicci pointed at me and told me "See, I knew she would have a lot of hair like YOU!" It was exciting to hear, so then the doctor gives the orders to have Nicci push. She pushed as hard as she could. I yelled to Nicci, "I can see a little head!" She gave it all she could to push, and within 15min of solid pushing Chiara Grace was born at 6:37pm Tuesday evening on November 30th!
